If you want to know my desktop machine I use for testing has 12 i7 cores, 32GB and a SSD. So far, pretty normal beefy machine for running VMs, but it also has 6 harddisks for doing storage testing for Ceph.
Sweet. You should just about be able to run anything you could think of with that configuration.
